If I could take one key takeaway out of the Brene Brown — Dare to lead book — it will be Living into Our Values.

Living into our values means that we do more than profess our values, we practice them. We walk our talk — we are clear about what we believe and hold important, and we take care that our intentions, words, thoughts, and behaviours align with those beliefs.

To live into your value, you need to have the courage to choose stand on your value against comfort; Never silent about hard things. I interpret “Dare to Lead“ start with leading yourself, your life, then others (relationship, team, family).

From the list of values shared in the “Dare to Lead” book, choose the essential 2 core values that defined you are. Resist holding on to words that resemble something you’ve been coached to be, should be, words that never felt true to you.

Some of the questions you may ask yourself:

  • Does this define me?
  • Is this who I am at my best?
  • Is this a filter that I use to make hard decisions?

Most importantly, INTEGRITY to your self and loved one is fundamental before choosing the value that you live to. The courage to face who you are, choosing what is right for you over ideal, perfect or “supposed to be”; and practising your values…
